Dress Code and Appearance

General

  • Learners are expected to be neatly turned out at all times. Pride in one’s personal appearance is very important.
  • Unauthorised dress combinations will not be accepted.
  • Either full uniform or civilian clothes must be worn on leaving school in the afternoon. If uniform is worn after school hours, it should be worn in its entirety.
  • All clothing must be of the correct size for the learner and has to be worn correctly
  • No item of uniform may be worn after it has been stretched or altered to change the length, shape or pattern of the original design.
  • No underwear should be visible.
  • Gel may be worn to keep hair neat, but hair must still be worn in a natural style. Gel may not be used to hide the length of hair that is too long, or to make it untidy.
  • Clothes must be clean and neat at all times.
  • Shoes must be polished regularly.
  • Learners have one week to cut hair from the time they are instructed to do so.
  • Only uniform in the dress code may be worn.
  • Uniforms may not be vandalised (written upon, cut, and intentionally distorted).
  • NO TATOOS are allowed for either boys or girls.
Boys Uniform Boys Uniform

1. Boys may not wear jewellery.

2. Hair must be kept well away from the eyes.

3. No hair may touch any part or the ear or collar or curl round the neck or ears and it must be tapered

smoothly to the neck. Inappropriate styles are not acceptable.

4. Hair may not be dyed, permed, platted (cornrows), braided etc.

5. Faces must be cleanly shaved.

Girls Uniform Girls Uniform

1. Girls may wear clear nail varnish only, and their nails may not be grown beyond the tips of their fingers.

2. No make-up may be worn.

3. Inappropriate styles are not acceptable. Hair must always be neat, and if it touches the shoulders, it must be tied up.

4. Hair may not be dyed, permed neither may it be high-lighting, low-lighting or streaked. Pupils may not do

any the above during school holidays either and then attempt to rectify the situations when school starts.

This usually then will result in bleaching and re-dying and pupils will be found guilty.

5. Only blue or white Alice-bands, clips or bobbles may be worn.

6. The dress/skirt may not be higher than 5cm from the top of the kneecap.

7. The only jewellery girls may wear is a single pair (one in each ear) of gold or silver studs or sleepers, no larger than the specified size.

8. Specified size of earrings: up to 14mm ring or 4 mm sphere.
